Computist Tim Finin (finin@venus.cs.umbc.edu) has left Unisys to chair the Dept. of Computer Science at UMaryland-Baltimore County. The department is six years old, and has grown to 16 full-time faculty, 20 part-time, 40 PhD students, 90 Masters, and about 700 undergraduates. Tim will continue to work with colleagues at the Unisys Center for Advanced Information Technology on several research projects. (... and I appreciate the contributions he's made to the Communique.)

Thomas C. Henderson (tch%maybird@cs.utah.edu) has stepped up from professor to Chairman of Computer Science at UUtah. Tom's research has been in computer vision and robotics, partly in collaboration with INRIA in France.
