Vasant Honavar (honavar@iastate.edu) is an assistant professor of CS and Neuroscience at Iowa State University, having received his Ph.D. in CS and Cognitive Science/AI from UWisconsin. He is currently working on parallel/distributed intelligent systems, machine learning, knowledge-based systems, cognitive science, and computational neuroscience. Other interests include neural networks, machine perception, and engineering applications of AI. Vasant has co-authored about 20 papers since 1988, and is about to publish two volumes on connectionism (with Leonard Uhr). He is an active reviewer and editor, and belongs to about a dozen professional societies. Vasant is looking for unconventional funding sources, and for short-term visiting positions at AI, cognitive science and robotics research centers.
