Carleton University (Canada) is offering a new PhD program in cognitive science, involving 26 faculty members. . [Andrew Brook , FISC, 18Nov97.]

Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) has a new Brain Science Research Center with 69 members from 18 organizations. The Korean Ministry of Science and Technology has announced a 10-year national program on "brain researches," including brain-like computing systems and overcoming brain disease. Specific areas are neurobiology, cognitive science, neural network models and hardware, artificial vision and auditory systems, inference technology, and intelligent control and communication systems.
