DENIVA and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Co-operation (CTA) are to launch a two year partnership aimed at enabling DENIVA Member Organisations (MOs) involved in agriculture to acquire, process, document and disseminate agricultural related information for purposes of learning and advocacy.
The partnership to be co-ordinated by the DENIVA Information Exchange Programme will also help strengthen the DENIVA Resource Centre and those of the members organisations involved in agriculture to enable them provide relevant agricultural information to their respective beneficiaries.
Furthermore, the partnership set to start in July, 1999 is expected to enable 11 selected MOs and 4 district associations to access agricultural information for increased production, sharing and learning. Their Resource centres (RCs) too will be able to provide relevant agricultural information to their respective beneficiaries.
Activities will include; co-ordinating, recording and dissemination of information, use of radio, sectoral study/discussion groups at district level through the district NGOs/CBOs associations and acquisition of more RC materials for dissemination.
Some of the agricultural Information areas to be targeted for information exchange and sharing will include; crop production, crop and livestock marketing, general crop husbandry, pest and disease control, soil fertility and conservation, food storage and processing, record keeping, oxenization, agroforestry, fish farming, beekeeping, zero grazing, and organic farming.
