| Disaster Chronicles Number 3: Earthquake in Mexico, September 19 and 20, 1985 (PAHO-OPS, 1985, 76 p.) |
This publication is a synthesis of various studies presented to the Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Relief Coordination Program of the Pan American Health Organization, Regional Office of the World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). Most of the authors participated in the sanitary activities that took place in Mexico City after it was devastated by the September 19, 1985 earthquake. It represents an attempt to organize the abundant technical and scientific material that was produced as a response from the health sector. It is the hope of PAHO/WHO that this publication is of use not only to those persons who worked in the health sector, but also to other institutions that participate in disaster relief activities. The technical information for this publication was compiled by Dr. Ney Guzmán. Dr. José Luis Zeballos and Dr. Jean-Luc Poncelet also contributed to the initial preparation of this report
