A seminar and workshop on "Disaster Prevention in Guatemala" will be convened in Guatemala City from 31 January to 2 February 1996 to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the 1976 earthquake in that country. Monitoring seismic activity, seismic resistant construction, and aspects of disaster response will be addressed. The meeting is being sponsored by the School of Engineers of Guatemala, the National Emergency Committee and CEPREDENAC.
