Hi,
Dumb question but I seem to have lost my Administrator's page!  When I set up a new home page I don't know what I did with the Greenstone home page - is there somehow I can find the items relating to user groups, because basically that's what I need the admin page for.  What file can I open to mamke changes there?

Hi Graeme

Could you please check whether file "gssetup.exe" exists under
GSDLHOME/bin/windows? If answer is not, how did you get the GS2.72? Did
you download it from CVS or use the GS installer? If you got GS2.72 from
CVS, the file wouldn't be existing. However, the file should be there if
you used the GS installer.

I have installed GS2.72 on a Linux machine, it works fine with "Write to
CD/DVD".

Quan

Hi,

I want to use the Write to CD/DVD function, I am using Greenstone 2.72
on a Linux Box, but I get the following error:

exportcol.pl failed: The Export to CD-ROM functionality has not been
installed.
 Command failed.

I though that this was bundled with versions higher than 2.70. What do
I need to add to get this working?

Many thanks,

Graeme.

Hi. We are moving our Contentdm digital collections to GS. My programmer
has been able to, with the help of a perl script he wrote, migrate
Contentdm images and associated metadata to GS. I did a poor job last
week in asking a bonehead design question so I'll try again.

I am working on the out-of-box version of home.dm in /gsdl/macros/

There is a middle section of the default page with four tan
boxes on left and descriptive info on right. In home.dm, package home,
I've commented out the text within brackets ({}) of three macros on left -
_textadmin_
_textabgs_
_textgsdocs_

and in package gli have commented out _textgli_.

I've also commented out the bracketed text for the macros

_textdescradmin_
_textdescrgogreenstone_
_textdescrgodocs_
_textdescrgli_

Is there a way to comment out that entire section so that it doesn't
render in the browser at all? We are working on GS2.72 running on SuSE
Linux 10 if that matters. Here's a shot of what I have so far:

Thanks for any help.

Hi John,

You'll probably find it easier to edit the

oops

The requested page could not be found. Please use your browsers 'back' button or the above home button to return to the Greenstone Digital Library. macro in home.dm directly. To remove the buttons, delete this section of the macro: <div class="divbar">&nbsp;</div> <div class="section"> <table> _textgogli_ _textgocollector_ _textgodepositor_ _textgotranslator_ _textgoadmin_ _textgogreenstone_ _textgodocs_ </table> </div> Regards, Michael John Creech wrote:

Hi Graeme,

I haven't actually tried this, but it seems that you could achieve what
you want by adding an "{If}" statement into the HList format statement
for the classifier that output a "<br>" (break) tag after finding "Y-Z".

Worth a try, depending on how important this is to you.

Regards,

Michael

Thanks for that, it looks a lot better now! Just one more questions,
is there a way to split it between scripts?

Part of the Vertical row looks like this ... Wei-Wi Wil-X Y-? ?-? ??-?
??-?
What would be nice was if it went... Wei-Wi Wil-X Y-Z and then on a
new line ?-? ?-? ??-? ??-?

This is especially the case becasue Y is written left to right and ?
is written right to left and so it appears on the extreme right of the
line, whilst the Y is positioned part of the way across the line.

May thanks,

Graeme.

Hi Graeme

To limit the number of documents for the characters in GenericList, you
can choose "constant_size" in "partition_type_within_level", meanwhile
give a limited document number in "partition_size_within_level".

I have set up a number of browse classifiers. For example I have a
browse by author option. This is set up using the GenericList. This
gives me a character list along the top and then when I select one of
the characters I will get a bookshelf of all the texts that fall
within that character. So for example I might select 'A' and then I
will get all the texts with an author whose name starts with the
letter A. This works well but it returns the entire list which is
several hundred, this is alright on the local network but when we move
to the Internet I foresee problems with the response time. Is there a
way to limit the number of results that are returned (just like the
search results returned)?

Or failing that would it be possible to have a second level of results
looking at the second character of the word so when A is selected it
is broken down into another grouping like: AA, AB, AC ....etc
