Regarding this answer from Michael,

Will this be the way to have the spanish version of the opening page by
default? When I enter the gsdl I get the english version (from the base.dm and
english.dm I suppose), and then have to go click Preferences to change it
to spanish. However I do need to have the spanish version as the default with the
same format as the english style (a new opening page will be next on
time for now is Ok the default format, but not the language).

Is this cgi setup the way, if so how can be done, or there is in fact an easier way
to do it?

Diego, perhaps you have tried and can suggest some hints.

I think you've answered your own question: you can set CGI argument defaults in the main.cfg file. For example:

cgiarg    shortname=l argdefault=es

would set the "l" variable (language) to "es" (Spanish).

There is a complete list of the CGI arguments in the administration page of your Greenstone library.
