Dear Mr Vladimir,

Thank you very much for the input which answered my question partially on one aspect fully.

The other aspect I want to know is that, if I copy the whole contents of the exported collection folder( in tmp) to the web server ( say htdocs folder) and provide a link to the server.exe from the index.html ( the homepage of the site), will it work, if database execution permission is there?

This question is important to many who don't have access to full webserver or cannot upload greenstone in the site. Many providers do not allow us to upload any application program. In such cases, what is the solution ?

Best Regards,

Dear Rajasekharan,

Actually, you can upload the exported files from tmp folder to the
website. That is exactly what we are doing for updating our digital
collections (the link is http://nubrs.rs.ba/dl/ but it is in Cyrillic
script). We installed Greenstone on our webserver and configured
everything as described in the Installation guide. Then we export the
collection for the creation of a CD, and copy the files from the tmp
folder to the corresponding folder on the server. As a minimum you
should copy the collect/<your-collection-name> to the folder with the
same name on your server installation. If you have any customization at
the collection level than you should copy the contents of your images/
and macros/ folders.
Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Vladimir
