Hi Nathan,

I am not sure whether this is the answer that you are looking for, but I
may contribute to your problem by describing what I do in my collection.
I have each document of my collection put into a separate directory
folder (timestamp information) in the import folder. In each of these
directories I have a single metadata.xml file specifying the metadata of
just that one document inside the folder. As far as I can judge,
Greenstone handles this situation without trouble. I only have one
metadata file for each document though and I am not sure whether you
also intent to do this (split the metadata information into many files,
each file containing one record or more, but complete records) or if you
need to create several metadata files which carry part of the metadata
of one document. In the latter case, maybe someone else knows whether
this is possible...
