Dear Prof.John Rose and Mr.Ashraff,

I would like to comment on the following observation made by Prof.John Rose:

> with the same author or same title.

The Koha-GSDL integration developed and implemented by me which is made
available at http://dharmaganja.ncsi.iisc.ernet.in:8082/ does search for
all the records including records with same author or same title. Koha
database has about 150,000 records, whereas GSDL has 7 fulltext records. I
make use of Koha for field based searching and only for full text
searching I will pass the SRU request to GSDL. For example, when a search
is done on 'object oriented programming', 98 references are retrieved,
including two entries for a book entitled 'Waite group's object-oriented
programming in Turbo C++/Robert Lafore. by Lafore, Robert.' as the two
books have different date of publication: 1992 and 1997. If we restrict
the search for title only, then 44 references are retrieved. Whereas, if a
full search for the same topic is done, 7 references are retrieved from
GSDL. These 7 references contain the search terms in the body of the
reference. Hence the terms may or may not appear in the title.

Recently I have implemented on the same site full text search with MySQL
database, with a different approach. For the same query 'object oriented
programming' it retrieves 4 references because I have indexed only 4 full
text documents in MySQL database. But the search interface and the method
used for searching is different from that of Koha-GSDL integration.

I appreciate feedback from all of you on both the implementations!!

Regards,
Anuradha
