I have no idea on the merging of collections; that is an entirely different thing than simply moving collections from one server to the another.

I would guess you can run the GLI client on as many computers as you want. I have a GLI client on my Mac and another on my PC, both of which I use to connect to the server I have running Greenstone.

Hi Gavin
Thanks for the confirmation and extra info on the images and macros
info that need to be transferred. I suppose that if i were to integrate
collection CRIME A and CRIME B, B into A then I first copy over the
collect folder as CRIME B into the common GLI Interface and then only
merge the files . Then there would be no clashes in the hash files
created? Am i correct?

Regarding Question 2 , you are correct . I have 2 GLI's launched on 2
PCs. Can I launch one from the other or even from a third. The reason
being that others can edit the files created on the main PC.

Hi Gavin
Thanks for info on help button.

I have 2 questions.

1. I am building collections on two Pcs using one as the anchor. I
build one collection in PC (A), build it and then COPY the collect
folder to the other PC (B) collect folder. PC B now has all the
collections in one place. Is it sufficient to just copy a built
collection over to the new PC (B) and expect everthing to work fine?

I did this very thing today with 9 collections. Works great. I also
copied over my gsdl/images/ and gsdl/macros/ directories
as I have been editing and adding to them, so this would affect
things on the other machine.

2. A better way is to use PC (B) as the common PC to build collections
but the librarian interface accesable from PC A. Is there any way this
can be achieved.
regards

Hmmm. I'm not sure I understand your question correctly. You have a
Greenstone on PC (B) that you want to connect to
via the GLI Client running on PC (A)?

Hi Raj,

Edit the HELP macro in your (language).dm file. For example,
if I wanted to change the text from "HELP" to "HELP ME" in
gsdl/macros/english.dm I would edit the macro as follows:

HELP {HELP ME}

Hope this helps.
