Subject | [greenstone-users] Moving Greenstone 2.72 collection to Greenstone3; missing GSDLHOME information in Win/NT installation |
Updated message Ref: http://greenstone.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Greenstone3_for_Greenstone2_Users Background: to educate myself I am working towards both a Win/NT and an Ubuntu Linux Greenstone3 installation. What follows identifies a problem with moving a prior Greenstone 2.72 collection to the Win/NT Greenstone3 service. The Win/NT Greenstone3 installation seems to have been satisfactory, with a correct Preferences setup. My gsdl 2.72 installation is at "E:Program FilesGreenstone"
The problem occurred during execution of the final step of the "Moving Greenstone2 collections to Greenstone3 ... prefer to just run the convert_coll_from_gs2.pl conversion script" routine. The tail end of my console file reads: Y:gsdlGreenstone3>gs2buildbinwindowsperlbinperl.exe binscriptconvert_co ll.Jrom_gs2.pl —collectdir "Y:Greenstone3websiteslocalsitecollect" SnobolTest GSDLHOME not set
A Web search for "GSDLHOME" exposed <http://clare.stfrancis.edu/gsdl/cgi-bin/library.exe?e=status-000-00---0--00-0-0--0prompt-10---4------0-1l--1-en-50---20-select---00031-001-1-0utfZz-8-00&a=status&p=gsdlsite>, which suggests that a file "gsdlsite.cfg" should exist, but none was found in the Greenstone3 directory. (There is such a file in my Greenstone2 directory.) (1) What should I do now?
(3) Could it be that your "Moving Greenstone2 collections to Greenstone3" documentation is incomplete? Or that your "convert_coll_from_gs2.pl" script is incorrect? Or both? If so, I recommend fixes.
Cheerio, Henry
