|That's something to do with the the Perl XML extension. I think, you need to install that and everything should be okay, check the archives since I faced that problem January this year.|

Someone may be able to put me onto the quick solution to the following
problem - I simply can't locate it at the moment.
Using GS 2.73 at the moment, on an Ubuntu Feisty server setup.
I had not done any updating on the Ubuntu machine for a month or two and
decided to do that yesterday. When it came to firing up Greenstone I
ran into a problem which started out with a Gtk warning 'Locale not
supported by C Library'. There were a couple of other associated
problems like a SAX exception XMLParser java:1196 problem.
I resolved what seemed to be the major issue (GLI interface wouldn't
open!) by seeing what had happened to the 'locale' files- Thai seemed
to have got corrupted somehow. Anyway, I got GLI to open and work
eventually - but I still have a problem with Spanish, Frnech, Portuguese
accetned letters which are not showing up in the interface (except as
squares). Yet any documents in GS are showing up correctly and even in
the metadata entries! So why not in the collection interface I ask? I'm
using Arial unicode font family so things should work without a problem.
Any thoughts on how I can fix this issue? I've checked that various
languages (French etc) are enabled and language packs installed on
