THERE are six facts, of the greatest im- portance, which I desire to bring be- fore the reader, and for which I would ask the most careful consideration. 1st. The human family is under condemna- tion. Death has passed upon all men, for all have sinnedRom. v. 12. Judgment has come upon all men to condemnationRom. v. 18. This is not by any means a pleasant truth. We like to talk about progress, and to indulge in dreams of future prosperity, and are too prone to forget that we are, by birth, members of a ruined family, and in- habitants of a world that is hurrying on to judgment. The sentence of condemnation has been passed upon us. We are a lost race! Think of the lofty mansions which grace our cities, and adorn our land; they are the dwellings of a condemned people! Think of the picturesque villages and lovely rural homes on which the eye gazes with such pleasure; they are the abodes of a |
