3. Objectives

Among the Meeting’s objectives was to learn from the experiences of the workers and their organizations in the different conflict-affected countries with respect to: wars’ impact on them; the trade unions’ role in the emergency, rehabilitation and development phases of the post-conflict period; the various initiatives undertaken by the unions; the linkages developed by the unions in this context with the other relevant institutions; major constraints to unions’ role in the post-conflict context; identification of future actions by the unions and by the ILO to support them in this context.
