Yash Tandon has been an activist in the struggle for justice and democracy for nearly four decades. He works with organisations and movements that defend the rights of peoples who are marginalised by inequities of the distribution of power and wealth.
As a Ugandan-born democrat, and starting with the anti-colonial struggle, he has fought against succeeding dictatorial regimes in Uganda for many years. He now works among the grassroots communities in Southern Africa, including peasant associations, cooperatives, trade unions, women's movements, environmental lobbies, organisations of people with disabilities and human rights activists.
He has written extensively on related issues for a number of journals and publications.
