Dear Readers,

Please do not be too surprised if this edition of "gate " appears at the usual time. Our editor has, in the meantime, accustomed herself to her additional new role of mother. The arrival of her baby was the reason why this year's first issue of "gate" was published late. We are sure you will understand.

This edition brings us into line with those who have taken the "International Year of Shelter for the Homeless" as their cue to spotlight the theme of building and living. The fact that a considerable number of our partners are interested in this subject is shown by the constantly increasing tide of enquiries within the framework of our "Question and-Answer Service". Most enquiries, however, continue to be associated with the topic energy. More about how the "Ouestion and-Answer Service" has developed over the past few years under the heading "News from GATE ".

This is not the only service in demand by or partners - our magazine is, too! Last year we had to increase the print run of "gate" from 5,000 copies to 6,000.

This year we will, for the first time, be able to fulfil a wish expressed by many readers: the publication of a French and Spanish edition of "gate". This will be a special issue to mark the magazine's fifth anniversary in December 1987.
