NGOs invited, World Bank Workshop in Argentina

400 participants including NGOs were invited to the World
Bank Workshop of "Renewable Energy in Rural Markets," March 25-26, 1998 in
Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The World Bank and the GEF in cooperation with the National
Secretary of Energy presented their "Electricity Supply Program for the Rural
Dispersed Population " (See article in issue no. 20 page 14.) It is a "leading
case" for the region. The main objective was to attract to the Program
institutional sectors, universities, companies, NGOs and other potentially
interested parties.
From INFORSE, Marcelo Alvarez participated who give a
presentation about the NGO roles with respect to information and capacity
building in emerging markets: mechanisms such as a Clearing House and Energy
Offices.
