About the Author
The author is a qualified special needs teacher who has
experience of working with children and adolescents with learning disabilities
and hearing impairments. Working with hearing impaired children is her
particular area of interest and her Masters degree dissertation focused upon the
effectiveness of sign language and the possibility of bilingual education for
hearing impaired children. Stephanie worked for two years in a school for deaf
children in
Thailand, which involved not only teaching but also team teaching
and in-service training of the other staff, as well as curriculum
development.
